John Sloboda, co-director of Iraq Body Count, will be in conversation with David Birkin on the subject of documenting the 100, 000 + civilian casualties since the 2003 invasion.
Iraq Body Count is a project which represents casualties of the Iraq War to achieve political and humanitarian impact. Artists working in various media have also represented casualties, sometimes drawing on the work of Iraq Body Count and similar projects. What kinds of impacts have been intended or achieved by these projects? Do political and artistic projects work on separate tracks, or can they be productively aligned?
